Designer’s Choice: Trim Color

Shades of White

One of the most difficult and important decisions you will make while selecting your exterior finishes is deciding which trim color will suit your project. Just like mortar, as described in our Mortar Matters blog post, trim will enhance the aesthetic look for your brick as well as the curb appeal of your entire project.

Trim may be used to pull out colors of your exterior finishes that you wish to accent. Trim colors can range from white to dark bronze, and everything in between. While determining a trim color can sometimes be difficult, the Brick Design Center is the perfect place to decide on what trim color to use for your new brick home. Along with choosing your brick, I will assist you with selecting your trim color during your design center consultation. If you do not have time for a face-to-face appointment, you can connect with me through Design Central found throughout our website.

We are commonly asked, “Should I select white trim because it matches everything?” The answer really depends on many factors. White has many ranges and I have found that the slightest variation in white can alter the façade of a project.

Most customers come into the brick design center with a vision of what they want their exterior to look like. They have already established an idea of whether they prefer warm or cool tones. Understanding this preference will assist in offering guidance as to which brick they are going to choose, along with other factors including trim color. If you are considering the use of my services, I have a few suggestions on what to bring with you to make the best use of our time together:

I have paired our Bessemer Grey and Northampton brick from our Parkway Collection, and Cape Cod brick from our Village Collection with two of my favorite trim colors Divine White (SW6105) and Pure White (SW7005) from Sherwin-Williams.  See below for images that showcase each brick with the respective trim color choices.

One might find these two colors simple, yet inviting. The Divine White is a warm color where Pure White is considered a true white offering a cool color palette. These two colors work extremely well with the bricks shown above.  The best trim color will compliment the brick’s beauty by enhancing the different colors and texture displayed on the brick.

While determining a trim color can sometimes be difficult, the Brick Design Center is the perfect place to decide on what trim color to use for your new brick home. If ever in need, Triangle Brick is always here to help!
